New Clinical Assessment Rubric for Practicum and Internship

Beginning in Fall 2010, the Counseling program is using a new Clinical Assessment Rubric to evaluate all school and clinical mental health counselor candidates enrolled in the practicum and internship courses.  This new assessment rubric will be completed by the university instructors for the above courses at the end of the semester.  The same rubric also will be completed by the clinical site supervisor for the above courses at the end of the semester.

All candidates and university instructors will find the new assessment rubric in Taskstream, and university instructors will complete the assessment using Taskstream.  Candidates (RU students) do not need to do anything to activate the assessment, and they will see the assessment rubric when they click on the practicum or internship course listed in Taskstream.  The evaluation completed by their instructors will be visible to them within Taskstream after it is completed.

At the end of each course, all clinical site supervisors will receive a link to the new Clinical Assessment Rubric by email.  In order to complete the assessment, clinical site supervisors will need to know their counselor candidate's Roosevelt University ID# and the campus where he or she studies. In addition, clinical site supervisors will need to provide a reliable email address to their counselor candidate and the university instructor.  All clinical site supervisors should print out a copy of their evaluation before they click "submit."  The printed copy of the evaluation should be kept for back-up documentation, and may be shared with the counselor candidate as necessary or desired.

Comments and questions about the new assessment rubric and the procedures outlined above may be directed to Tom Philion, Associate Dean of the College of Education, at tphilion@roosevelt.edu or 312-853-4783.
